Pre-Care
Hyaluron Pen
The procedure cannot be done if you have hypersensitivity and a low pain tolerance. If you have these and a tendency to bruise and swell, this should be told to the artist prior to the treatment.
Smoking: Never smoke within 1 hour of the procedure.
Menstruation: If the appointment falls during this time of the month, inform the artist, expect a lower pain tolerance and the need to refill sooner and minor bleeding.
Oral Herpes: If you have had Oral Herpes in your lifetime (no matter how many years ago), you should be treated 2 weeks prior to the appointment.
Prior fillers: If you have had fillers injected to the lips prior to the treatment or have had botox in the mouth area, you must inform the artist of the correct information prior to treatment. You have to realize that the effect of Hyaluron based non-permanent fillers is always shorter than the one of semi-permanent fillers or botox.
Medication: If you are taking medications, inform the artist. It is not always an obstacle.
However, minor bleeding, thinner blood, the potential need for refill sooner, can be expected (depending on how the medications affect blood thinning and hormones). If you are taking anti-coagulants, you need a note from your physician.
Have realistic expectations: In many filler commercials, tiny lips are transformed into lush, larger lip which is not reality. Lip mapping/contouring allows one to change the shape/size to be closer to the ideal lips, but it is rarely achieved.
Procedures to the facial area before the treatment: The artist should be aware of any of these. Usually, 2-3 week should have passed from procedures that involve more intensive penetration to the skin.
Allergies: If you are allergic to any topicals and fillers, let the artist be aware, especially Lidocaine.
Skin Problems: If you have any dermatological condition in the treatment are, please consult your doctor before having anything done.
Be reasonable: Do not expect enormous changes. Now, the preference is to have natural lip enhancement. Do not go for multiple procedures during one visit, i.e. micro-blading, lash extensions, pigmentation, etc. This could lead to lower pain tolerance and decreased healing. Never demand more than 1 ml/cc of filler to one region. All competent artists will urge moderation in lieu of excess.
